![]() the (USB-A) cable does not work as an USB 3.1 device when connected via an Anker PowerLine USB-C to USB 3.1 Adapter (either directly or through the USB HUB), more specifically the cable registeres as an ASMT1051 chip on the USB 3.1 bus but the drive does not register or registers but cannot be mounted. => I was not able to get the cable to work as an USB 3.1 device. * StarTech will replace the cable with a version that "has been tested to show up as ASM2135". The number is strange since the cable is supposed to have an ASMedia ASM1351 chip and I cannot find an cannot find an ASMedia ASM2135 chip. ![]() I'll test when it arrives and report here. But the name does not really mean anything because it can be set to an arbitrary value in the firmware. Unfortunately I cannot test this since I do not have administrator access to a Windows computer which is required to run the firmware updater. * I have tested the cable again on Raspberry Pi OS with USB quirks applied as to disable the uas driver and use the usb-storage driver instead.Īt this point there is not much more that I can test and I am very tempted to open the cable and see what is inside (but StarTech support advised against that). In the top USB 3.0 port the cable seems to work using usb-storage but I am getting a huge amount of errors in dmesg (see below) and speeds are very low (see below). ![]() In the bottom USB 3.0 port the cable seems to work using usb-storage withouth errors in dmesg and at a high speed (see below).
